HOW TO BUY A PROPERTY IN SPAIN WITHOUT BEING HERE (PART I)

Whether you’re in Spain and ready to view in person, or outside of Spain and want to view “virtually,” buying a property is pretty much the same as it was pre-pandemic.

Keep seeing properties come up for sale that seem exactly what you’re looking for, then… they sell because you can’t make it over to Spain to view in person? You shouldn’t feel like you’ll never snap up a bargain again! There is another option for you!

If you’re here, of course everything can be done in person, face to face. But if you’re not in Spain, thanks to technology and the wonderful world of the internet, you can still reserve a property with face to face interaction. The only difference is you’ll be talking and viewing the property via video call instead.

Sounds complicated? Not at all! All you need is an internet connection, a computer, an iPad (Tablet), or a smart phone.

Stop missing out on grabbing yourself a deal just because you’re not currently in Spain, and start your virtual viewings now. Here are 3 easy steps on how to get started with your virtual online property buying experience.

1. Choose your device. How would you prefer to see a property, virtually? On a computer screen? On an iPad (Tablet)? Or on a mobile “smart” phone? Consider the screen size. Obviously a computer will offer you a bigger screen. You’ll be able to see more detail. This would be my preferred choice. An iPad (Tablet) would be the next best thing, as the size of the screens are quite good. Smart phones are popular due to their connectivity, but bear in mind the size of the screen when you’re ready to set up your virtual viewing appointment. You’ll want to see as much intricate detail as possible.

2. Internet connection. You’ll need a good internet connection. 4G on mobile devices work very well for virtual viewings, as well as a Wi-Fi connection, however nothing beats fibre internet! It’s strong and reliable. Meaning you should be able to see and hear everything without the signal breaking.

3. There are many options for video calls available. FaceTime if you’re using an Apple© device. WhatsApp is also extremely popular. There are others out there too, like Google Hangouts. All are free to use. Since being in lockdown you’ll probably have heard of Zoom. Again free to use for up to 40 minutes if you’re the host, but if you’re an invited guest to the video call, it’s free! This is my personal favourite. Whatever mode of video call you choose to use, download it to your chosen device, well in advance of your scheduled video call. Try it out on a family member or friend first, and don’t forget to unmute yourself before you’re ready to talk!

This sounds more complicated than what it actually is, so don’t be put off. Technology is there to help us all, so why not make good use of it?
